The LAB is a place for youth and adults to come together, where we share art in the form of music, crafts, and spoken word. We communicate our thoughts and ideas, and we act by taking a leading role in community efforts to build a more just world.
Our core values are community, sustainability, creativity, integrity, and action.
The LAB is a learning, designing, and teaching community where we all matter and we all thrive. We believe that positive experiences + positive relationships + positive environments = Positive Youth Development (PYD).
PYD is an intentional, pro-social approach that engages youth within communities, schools, organizations, peer groups, and families in a manner that is productive and constructive. It recognizes, utilizes, and enhances youths' strengths. It also promotes positive outcomes for young people by providing opportunities, fostering positive relationships, and furnishing the support needed to build on their leadership strengths. The LAB utilizes a YOUTH LEADership Pathway approach to ensure that youth members “learn by doing”. Through this approach, youth participants acquire technical and soft skills while engaging civically.
