OUR
WORK
The LAB provides opportunities for youth ages 15 to 25 to design a future of health, meaningful work, economic independence, and social justice through art, communication, and action.

The LAB is a space where youth and adults come together to share art in the form of music, crafts, and spoken word. We communicate our thoughts and ideas, and we act by taking a leading role in community efforts to build a more equitable world.

We believe that by recognizing and harnessing the strengths of youth while facilitating positive relationships and experiences in a nurturing environment, their leadership skills and commitment to social justice are cultivated - this is how we achieve Positive Youth Development.
THEORY
OF CHANGE
Our theory of change recognizes that greater awareness and capacity to act leads to transformed practices, policies, and systems that result in improved health and well-being for all. Our media and art-based approach is a powerful strategy to accomplish these transformations.
The LAB utilizes a YOUTH LEADership Pathway approach to ensure that youth members “learn by doing”. Youth participants acquire technical and soft skills while engaging civically.

The feedback from former and current LAB Youth Leaders is very positive. They report learning valuable skills while contributing to community radio and/or community-based events. They also help raise awareness about important issues such as education equity. Stay tuned for more results of our impact.
